Overfifty vendors will provide a wide range of foods from simple to sophisticated,geared for the “foodie” with discerning taste buds. The 2010 PoconoGarlic Festival is a platform to showcase the area’s most pungent garlic andfinest eateries, with no two alike. This year's tasting will includeeverything from the very predictable garlic inspired Italian dishes such asbruschetta, meatballs on a stick and shrimp scampi, to richly garlic near eastdishes represented by shish kabob, tabbouli, baba ghannouj, falafels andstuffed grape leaves. Paella, empanadas, Spanish sausage, hand made kielbasa,pirogi and garlic-fried rice are coming back for the tasting. “Garlic is soversatile that the every day dishes sparkles,” expressed, one of last year'sattendees. Other staples will be returning are corn on the cob with garlicbutter, smoke BBQ sandwiches, turkey legs, chicken wings and crab cakes to namejust a scrumptious few. Each vendor uses just about fifty pounds of garlic toprepare for the festival, that’s more than 3000 pounds. For the true garlicadventure there was even garlic ice cream, garlic chocolate chip cookies andeven garlic hand rolled cigars. Localartists and crafterswill exhibit a variety of hand crafted garlic themed creations and wares atthis year’s two-day event. From homemade wood items to pottery to jewelryand even handcrafted soaps Garlic in every form imaginable will be on display. Non-StopMusic and Shows
Musical headliners Zydeco-A-Go-Go will be returning to the Pocono GarlicFestival this year along with local favorites, Burning Bridget Cleary, theJuggernaut String Band, Blue Emerald, The Lost Ramblers, Pearls Before Swine(formerly known as Milkweed) and many more. The PA Dance Network will also be returning withseveral dance performances throughout both days. The venue boast threeoutdoor stages, an outdoors children’s activity area, educational lectures,cooking demonstrations and strolling acts for all to enjoy. Festival goers willenjoy a wide variety of non-stop live music and “garlic themed” novelty actsand entertainments geared towards the whole family, including jugglers,magicians and live local performers. Returningto the event, we have dedicated an area of the festival to educationaldemonstrations and lectures with dual platforms for continuous demonstrationsfor both adults and children. The Festival will feature live garlic cookingclasses, professional garlic growing seminars, featured farmer forums and a lotmore. If you want to know all there is about garlic, this is the place to be!Featuring Bob Dunkelwho is both a member of the Garlic Seed Foundation and editor of the GarlicPress. He will present two informative lectures on “Growing Your OwnGarlic” and “Garlic History, General Health and Cooking Issues”. Bob, whohails from Western New York, is devoted to garlic growing without the use ofchemicals or supplements. In addition to the Pocono Wildlife RehabilitationCenter with anarray of native PA animals. This local organization provides a place forinjured and orphaned wildlife to receive treatment until they can be releasedback into the wild.
